Parking outside Zadar city center
It is a lot easier to find a parking spot outside Zadar city center. You will be able to find free parking spots on the streets or if you find a parking lot, it will be a lot cheaper than the one in the center of the city. Parking in Zadar center
There is so-called zone 0 which is reserved parking in Zadar center for peninsula residents (all others max 1 hour). For this parking zone, parking is charged on weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 0:00 until 24:00 hours. But there are also 2 different charging periods for zone 0 - 01.09. - 14.06. when the price of 1 hour is 6 kn and 15.06. - 31.08. when the price of 1 hour is 12 kn.
Parking garages in Zadar center
There is one public parking garage in Zadar center on the address 112. brigade. The garage is located in the city center, 10 minutes’ walk from the peninsula. It has 630 parking spaces and 24-hour surveillance. During the winter time (1.10-1.6.), 1 hour of parking costs 4 kn, whilst in summertime (1.6.-30.9.) that price rises to 10 kn per hour. You can also buy a weekly ticket for the cost of 350 kn and a monthly ticket for 700 kn.
Public parking in Zadar center
There are many public parking spaces in Zadar center, but most of them are not cost-free. Parking is charged depending in which parking zone you choose to park your vehicle. Zone 0 is the most expensive while zones 3 and 4 cost significantly less.
You are allowed to park on the sides of the streets in the designated parking areas marked with white or yellow lines.
You will also be able to find public parking places in Zadar and their cost depends on their location. The cheapest parking spot you will be able to find near the city center is called Ravnice. It costs 2kn/hour and it is only three minutes’ walk from the city gate.
Another great parking lot can be found in Petar Svačić street. It cost 3kn/hr and it is relatively close to the city center.
Free parking in Zadar
There is a so-called area called Petrčane which has free parking in Zadar from 1.5. - 14.6. and 1.9. - 30.9.
Located just a short drive from the old town and the bus and train stations, the City Galleria center is easily accessible for all cars and has the first hour of parking free of charge.

Also, the first hour of parking is free at the main bus and railway station. Parking is charged on weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from throughout the whole year from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. The rest of the parking hours you pay by the hourly rate of 4 kn.
Parking zones in Zadar
The city of Zadar has granted the firm "Obala I lučice" a concession for all public places designated as fee parking lots. Parking lots on public property in the Poluotok (peninsula) region and on the street Branimirova obala are split into two zones - blue and white, i.e. the first and second parking zones, which differ in hold manner and fee.
Important to note is that there are two modes for calculating the price of parking in Zadar – winter mode and summer mode. During the winter time, parking in Zadar is fairly cheaper than in the summertime. Having that in mind, here are the prices per each parking zone in Zadar for both winter and summer mode:
Parking zones in Zadar - Winter mode
Winter mode – from 1st of October to 30th of April. Parking is paid Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. On Sundays and holidays, there is no charge for parking. Here is the pricing list for all the zones during winter mode:

Important to note here is that the are additional 2 periods of differently charged parking prices during the summer – first one is for the dates 1.5. - 14.6. and 1.9. - 30.9., while the second one is reserved for the peak of summer season on the period 15.6. - 31.8.

How to pay for parking in Zadar
Paying via mobile phone
In Zadar, you can pay for parking via mobile phone. Send an SMS with your registration plate at the number listed in the zone where the vehicle is parked.
Usually, you will be able to find signs on the beggining and the end of the street telling you which zone you are in. At the sign you can usually find all the information neccessary to pay the parking fee via mobile phone.
Zadar smart parking - Zadar parking app
From this summer, Zadar is welcoming smart parking. The city of Zadar has started installing sensors on the parking lot on the Peninsula in order to solve the problem with parking in the peak season. Vacancies in the parking lot on the Zadar Peninsula will be shown on a mobile application Zadar parking app. The smart system was first installed on Branimirova obala. These sensors will allow users and tourists to see at any time through the application how many parking spaces are occupied, how many are free, whether it makes sense to enter the city center and create more traffic jams.
